Frequently asked questions.

How do I pick the right group for my child?

We don’t use floatation equipment or armbands in our Swimming Academy. If your child cannot swim without floatation aids then we recommend choosing Beginner classes. All group levels swim at the same time, and in the case an instructor thinks your child should be in a different group, they can make changes during the lesson to ensure your child is in the right class for their level.

When can my child join the lessons?

Children can attend our lessons from age 4 and a minimum height of 110cm, due to the depth of the floor.

Can my child wear swimming goggles?

Yes, many children feel more comfortable in the water with goggles on.

Can my child wear arm bands or a swim vest?

No, we teach without floatation aids.

When will my child move groups?

Our instructors will constantly assess swimmers and when they are ready to move we will let you know.

Do you have a waiting list?

Yes, please see the waiting list option here.

When will the next course be available to book?

We try and release our next packages of lessons one to two weeks prior to the existing sessions finishing. Existing customers receive exclusive access to the new sessions released for continuity purposes.

Please note: bookings close after the second lesson in a termly block. This is to make sure children are at the same level of learning.

Where is the pool?

Please visit our ‘Map’ page to get an overhead picture of the school site.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

Your payment reserves your place for you and if you miss a lesson for any reason, we cannot refund you.

What are the changing facilities like?

The changing room are boys and girls group change, there aren't any cubicles. Any child over the age of 8 must go into the changing room of their sex, for a child under the age of 8, the child must use the changing room according to the sex of the adult with them.

Do the lessons run all year round?

Our lessons run during school term-time only and are in blocks according to the school terms. Our packages tend to last for 6 or 7 weeks each.

Is there parking available?

Please see our map. Customers are allowed to park in the staff car park. There is usually ample parking in this area although certain events running within the school (Parent Evenings etc.) can cause pressure on car parking spaces.

“Lovely pool and my daughter has made great progress in just 5 weeks and looks forward to every week. It's also great that we are supporting Calderstones School by attending the lessons..”
