Annoucement
I am writing to inform you that at the end of this term, 18th July 2025, the Swimming Academy run by Calderstones School will come to an end.
It has not been an easy decision to make, but unfortunately, the fantastic swimming support that that has been provided via Liverpool City Council is no longer able to continue, due to a number of upcoming retirements and staff leavers. We already had to reduce down from 5 days a week to 3 days due to difficulties with staff recruitment back in September 2024.
We know that many of your children have taken their first steps in the pool with Calderstones, learned to swim, gained amazing confidence in the water and made lots of friends along the way. However, we didn't want to be in the situation where we got to September and there were not enough staff to run the lessons and for lessons to be cancelled at short notice.
We thank you all for your support over the last 4 years and we hope that your children have enjoyed the experience.
On a positive note, Swimsound, who currently run lessons on a Tuesday, Thursday and weekends at Calderstones, will be stepping in to provide lessons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday as well. In addition to our outstanding provision for children, we offer an extensive programme for adults, accommodating those new to swimming as well as those looking to improve their stroke efficiency for swimming events and triathlons.
